Iturrienea Ostatua (it does start to roll off the tongue after a bit of practice!) is a charmingly understated hotel, with lots of character. It's an integral part of the pedestrianised old town, retaining the original period features like big wooden beams and exposed stone walls. That character extends to the owners and staff too, who are very helpful and friendly, and always happy to share their knowledge of their city so that you can enjoy your holiday all the more. Above all, it is the charm of the people that will make a stay in this hotel so memorable.
We couldn't describe the rooms as spacious, but they are immaculately clean and well-presented, and decorated with period pieces and little knick-knacks that make every one individual. Choose a front-facing room to be a part of the revelry of the Casco Viejo, or a back room for more solitude.
Of course, these days Bilbao is famous for the Guggenheim Museum, but Bilbao has plenty more to offer the city tourist: stroll the Casco Viejo or the Gran Via, walk past the wonderful old villas that overlook the sea at Getxo and Las Arenas, visit the heritage of Bilbao's industrial past, or even have a Sunday lunch of sardines straight off the boat at Santurtzi.
Restaurant:
No restaurant, although breakfast is available. Every other building in the Casco Viejo is a bar or restaurant though, so there is every opportunity to get out there and enjoy being a part of the vibrant life of the area.A Word From the Owner:
"Come to our hotel to enjoy the personal attention of the proprietors."Hotel Amenities:

Nearby Amenities:
Guggenheim Museum: the iconic modern art museum, where the amazing exterior is just as interesting and the exhibits it contains.Casco Viejo: the seven streets of the old town of Bilbao, dating back to some time pre-1700.
Basque Country Museum
Museum of Fine Arts
Puente Colgante: the transporter bridge, an interesting piece of Victorian engineering.
Funicular railway: leading up to the old mining villages near Trapagaran.
Las Arenas and Getxo: a genteel seaside town at the mouth of the river.
Guernica: made infamous by the civil war bombing, and made famous by Picasso's painting. See a replica of the painting in the town museum. Guernica is also the traditional home of the Basque parliament, with the ancient parliament tree and the slightly more modern Meeting House.
What We Say:
Bilbao has been brought onto the tourist trail by the Guggenheim, but there's much more to see too. Iturrienea Ostatua is a charming little hotel with friendly staff right at the heart of the most interesting part of the city. It's also at the heart of the nightlife, so light sleepers may prefer a room at the back.Customer Feedback:
